Separate disconnection from removal
Dishwasher haul-away begins after the appliance is safely disconnected. Confirm whether a plumber, electrician, installer, or another qualified person will handle that work.
Check for water and sharp edges
Drain hoses can retain water, and exposed brackets or sheet metal may be sharp. Tell the hauler about leaks or damage and keep children and pets away from the work zone.
Protect the cabinet opening
Once the dishwasher is out, protect the exposed opening and any loose hoses or wiring until the replacement is installed. Do not leave an unsafe connection accessible.
Clear the carrying route
Move mats, stools, pet bowls, and fragile items. Note thresholds, stairs, narrow side yards, and parking distance.
