Measure for the real carrying position
A chest freezer is wide and low; an upright freezer is tall and narrow. Record all three dimensions and the narrowest doorway, not just the model’s advertised capacity.
Empty and defrost with a plan
Remove all food and ask when to unplug the freezer. Plan for meltwater, towels, and enough drying time before pickup. Do not leave spoiled contents inside.
Describe the condition
Mention damaged lids, doors that will not close, standing water, odors, rust, or sharp panels. The provider needs this information before accepting the job.
Keep cold-appliance disposal questions specific
Refrigerant-containing appliances require proper handling. Ask the provider how the unit will be managed rather than assuming it can go into ordinary trash.
